▼ Bottle Information ▼
In the late ’70s and early ’80s, this was massively rich and possessed simply mindboggling complexity and length. In short, it transcended the vintage several times over. As it approaches its 40th year, this remains an impressive specimen of an otherwise barely average vintage with an elegant and relatively youthful nose, displaying obvious but not dominating sous bois and beautifully complex flavors that are rich but a bit short and dry on the finish. To be sure, this is an enjoyable if not really excellent wine that is drinking well. Note that in 1995 I had another bottle purchased at auction that was clearly thinning out on the finish and while still pretty, was showing definite signs of declining. Either way, drink up.
